Brass Ball Valves are widely used in fluid control systems for regulating the flow of liquids or gases. They are known for their durability, ease of use, and ability to withstand high pressures, making them suitable for a wide range of applications.

1. Material:

   • Brass: Composed primarily of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn), brass offers excellent corrosion resistance, especially in water and low-temperature environments.

2. Design:

   • Ball Mechanism: The valve operates using a hollow, perforated, and pivoting ball that controls the flow of fluid. When the valve is open, the hole in the ball is aligned with the flow path. When closed, the ball is rotated 90 degrees, blocking the flow.
   • Quarter-Turn Operation: Ball valves are typically quarter-turn valves, meaning the valve is fully opened or closed with a 90-degree turn of the handle or actuator.

3. Sealing:

   • Tight Seal: Brass ball valves are designed with a tight, leak-proof seal, often using Teflon (PTFE) seats or rubber seals to prevent leaks even at high pressures.

4. Pressure Rating:

   • Brass ball valves are typically rated for working pressures between 150 PSI and 400 PSI (pounds per square inch), though this can vary depending on the size and specific model.

5. Temperature Range:

   • Brass ball valves typically operate within a temperature range of -20°F to 200°F (-28°C to 93°C), though some can handle higher or lower temperatures, depending on their design and seals.

6. Valve Sizes:

   • Common sizes for brass ball valves range from 1/4 inch to 4 inches in diameter. Larger sizes can be found but are less common.

   • Ball valves allow for quick and precise flow control. They can handle both high-flow and low-flow applications with minimal pressure drop.
